For me, Wimbledon is one of the most special times of the year. Not only am I a lifelong tennis fan, but I also have the privilege of living in Wimbledon Village, with the world’s most famous tennis tournament quite literally on my doorstep.

For two wonderful weeks each summer, our charming village becomes the centre of the sporting world, welcoming visitors from every corner of the globe. It’s a chance for people to discover everything that makes Wimbledon so unique; from its beautiful green spaces, gardens and independent restaurants to the timeless traditions of strawberries and Champagne. There’s a wonderful atmosphere unlike anywhere else, and I’m delighted to share a little of it with you in this edition…

Local Tip: Allow some time to walk around Wimbledon Village, and experience the creativity of the tennis themed displays. Nowhere does these better than the namesake village of the Championships!

Recently, I escaped to Lisbon, Portugal’s sun-drenched capital, and found myself so captivated by its effortless charm that it became the natural inspiration for this month’s Goldlightly newsletter.

There is a certain magic to Lisbon. A city steeped in history yet refreshingly unhurried, it moves at a pace that encourages you to slow down, look closer, and savour the beauty of everyday moments.

From grand architectural landmarks and sweeping Atlantic views to its labyrinth of cobbled streets adorned with intricate azulejo tiles, Lisbon feels both deeply storied and wonderfully alive.

My favourite way to experience Lisbon was simply by wandering through Alfama, the city’s oldest neighbourhood. Here, winding streets climb steep hillsides, washing lines sway between pastel-coloured buildings, and the soundtrack of everyday life drifts from open windows. Joining a walking tour offers a wonderful introduction, but allowing yourself time to get lost is equally rewarding.

For those willing to venture beyond the city, a day trip to Sintra; one of the first locations to build European Romantic architecture; is essential. The beautiful history of this town is extensive, and even contains one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Lisbon’s shopping scene is a beautifully curated blend of heritage craftsmanship and contemporary design.

One destination I returned to time and time again was A Vida Portuguesa. Dedicated to preserving Portugal’s rich artisanal traditions, its shelves are filled with thoughtfully sourced homewares, fragrances, ceramics, clothing and jewellery. The Intendente location became a particular favourite, although the Chiado store is equally charming.

Nearby, Clay Lisboa offers a refined edit of clothing, pottery and objects for the home, carefully selected with a distinctly understated aesthetic. For fragrance lovers, Claus Porto on Rua das Flores is a must-visit. Housed within an elegant historic building, it showcases a beautifully distinctive collection of scents, soaps and perfumes that perfectly capture Portugal’s heritage of craftsmanship.

I wanted to share a little piece I’ve written following a recent trip to Los Angeles, a city I’ve always been drawn to for its sun, sea, and effortlessly relaxed way of life.

After spending two weeks there with my daughter, who has recently moved to LA, I found myself completely immersed in its rhythm. This is my personal take on the city, part guide, part love letter.

Los Angeles has always held a certain allure for me - the golden light, the endless coastline, and that unmistakable sense of ease that seems to drift in on the Pacific breeze. It’s a place where life feels just a little softer around the edges.

What’s not to love?

My recent trip was not just a visit, but a true immersion into neighbourhood rhythms, morning rituals, and the understated luxury of LA living.

For boutiques, a wander down Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice is essential.

I found beautiful pieces for my home at Tumbleweed & Dandelion and Gjusta Goods, while Heist and Buck Mason are favourites for understated, everyday clothing.

For culture, a visit to The Getty is a must; not only for its exceptional art but also for its breathtaking views across the city. The Hammer Museum in Westwood is another favourite, with a strong and considered collection.

On more relaxed days, a morning hike through Los Leones Canyon followed by a swim in the sea captures LA at its very best.

In Venice, Great White and Gjusta simply can’t be beaten for atmosphere, it is effortlessly stylish and always buzzing, yet still relaxed. Another favourite was Saba Coffee & Kitchen, where a Spanish latte and breakfast burrito became a daily ritual.

I don’t usually gravitate towards overly trendy spots, but my daughter insisted we try Congress Coffee. Despite a 15–20 minute wait, it was absolutely worth the hype.

Evenings were all about ease. KazuNori and its sister restaurant Sugarfish are perfect for quick, consistently excellent sushi. For something a little more indulgent, Gjelina is a standout, especially for its pizza and effortlessly cool setting.

My go-to in Los Angeles is Palihouse, with locations in Westwood and West Hollywood (WEHO).

Both feel like a home away from home - beautifully designed, full of character, and with the comfiest beds imaginable.

The best part of Los Angeles however, isn’t any one place - it’s the pace. Life moves more slowly, people aren’t in a hurry, and there’s a quiet permission to simply sit in the sun with a book and enjoy the moment.

In a world that often feels too fast, Los Angeles gently reminds you to slow down.

Paris is a place I visit often, and always discover something new. A city drenched in beauty where the architecture inspires and dressing chic feels like a second language.

It is a place where I go to wander, to be inspired and to simply to enjoy life.

Paris feels like a seamless blend of antiquity and modernity, where traces of the past sit naturally alongside the present, and every street holds stories that have been lived as well as ones still waiting to be told.

After a short but wonderful visit a few weeks ago, I was inspired to make Paris the next topic of our monthly Goldlightly newsletter. With this in mind, what follows is my idea of how to best spend time in the city of love, from eating to shopping, and all the little winding side-streets in between.

The foundation is deceptively simple, consisting of layered shirts in soft cottons, and fine knits, worn with an almost absent-minded precision. An oversized trench, draped rather than fitted, moving with you through the city.

Add a pair of perfectly faded jeans that have lived a well-lived life, neither too new nor too distressed. And, of course, to finish add a few Goldlightly rings, and a Chanel slouchy tote: subtle, understated, and capacious enough to carry the day as it unfolds.

My preferred ritual begins in the Jardin des Tuileries, where the iconic green chairs are perpetually angled toward the sun. Here, people-watching becomes an art form in itself, an unspoken theatre of passing moments, studied in stillness.

From there, a short walk leads to the Bourse de Commerce: Pinault Collection, just beside the Palais Royal. The exhibitions feel deliberate and quietly provocative, and among one of the most thoughtfully curated in the city at present.

Then, as the afternoon softens, I drift into Le Marais.

Its streets, at once historic and electric, offer a different kind of discovery.

Lunch is most often taken at Café Charlot, where the atmosphere strikes that rare balance between energy and ease. It is as much about the scene as it is the meal.

And for dinner, Onii-San Sushi, which is unexpected perhaps, but consistently impeccable. A quiet departure from tradition, and all the more compelling for it.

Paris, ultimately, is not a checklist of destinations but a way of moving through the world; by observing, editing, and appreciating the in-between moments.

It is less about what you do, and more about how you do it.

Having worked in the New York fashion industry throughout the 1990s, the recent release of Love Story, charting the romance of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr., stirred a particular nostalgia.

Their world, downtown Manhattan in the 90s, was one of quiet glamour and effortless minimalism. Carolyn, in particular, defined a kind of pared-back elegance that still resonates today.

With that spirit in mind, here is my version of a perfect 90s-inspired day in downtown New York.

Start with a straight-leg jean, the Slvrlake Isabel has just the right balance of structure and softness, paired with a black cashmere sweater (Lisa Yang’s is a particular favourite). Add black ballet flat and a chunky Goldlightly chain for a subtle statement.

A stop at La Garçonne on Greenwich Street is essential for beautifully curated fashion, while Benthos offers some of the finest vintage pieces in the city; the kind of discoveries that feel uniquely New York.

New York, of course, excels when it comes to food. Begin the day at Frenchette on Church Street, where coffee and impossibly indulgent pastries set the tone for the morning.

For lunch, La Mercerie on Howard Street offers refined French fare in a beautifully designed space. Later, slip into one of Au Cheval’s deep leather booths on Cortlandt Alley for dinner before ending the evening with a nightcap at The Roxy, a fittingly glamorous close to a day spent wandering a city that still feels, in many ways, timeless.
